Armax Vols. I–VI Reprints

Armax was launched by former CFM Curator Herbert G. Houze in 1987, and comprised nine issues spread across six volumes, published from 1987 to 1996.  These first six volumes contained a lot of important original research, but, unfortunately, these original issues are hard to find today, and often expensive. We only know of a few complete sets that are available to researchers.

To remedy this state of affairs, the Cody Firearms Museum and Helios House Press are ‘remastering’ and re-printing the original six volumes of Armax. In audio and video circles, remastering is the creation of a new ‘master’ or source recording, generally done to maintain a valuable original recording while improving its quality and/or clarity. We are taking a similar approach to our treatment of the original six volumes of Armax. We are keeping the original top-notch research content but placing it in a more contemporary, accessible layout with brand-new photographs and enhanced visuals for modern researchers. These will be beautiful, functional publications printed on high-quality paper in full colour.

A series introduction places the original run of journals in their historical context, and editorial notes provide important details at key points in many articles. In addition, significantly higher-quality paper and bindings will make these a pleasure to read, and more durable for years to come.

We ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, and have raised the necessary funds to ensure these remastered editions will be brought to life. If you missed the campaign, you can still pre-order your copies of Armax Vols. I-VI here!
